Children’s book
“Why is my Hair Black?”
I am adopted from China so writing and illustrating this meant a lot since it was such a personal story. The book depicts a conversation between a mother and her child who is adopted. The child asks a question that leads to the bigger story of adoption in general. This book is meant to help get the conversation going in a digestible manner possibly between a young child and parent/guardian.
Book Jacket
“A Raisin in the Sun”
The story “A Raisin in the Sun” made by Lorraine Hansberry has always inspired me and helped me open my eyes to social differences in the culture. While you are not supposed to judge a book by its cover- I hope if anyone picked up my illustration of this book cover it would do the storyline and real-life cultural values justice.
Icon Set
“Spices”
In my house growing up there was always something cooking- my Dad especially was a big fan of spices and new flavor combos. I found how many spices I use daily amazing.
